Day 2: A distinct lack of sugar.

Mass: 102.3 Kg
Mass-Loss to date: 0.7 Kg
Mass-Loss Remaining: 16.3 Kg
Phase: Attack!

Just for the record, I probably won't do daily posts for this whole thing, but whilst it's new and I'm on holidays, I will try to. For the record, I consider 0.7 Kg mass-loss to be negligible. It could simply be a large glass of water!

Things went well today, and I managed to branch out a bit with what I am eating. I still kept up my jerky intake (hmmm..), but managed to had bacon and galette for breakfast- yum! More of a pancake really, but it was still tasty.

Steady consumption of Oatbran is required on the Dukan Diet, and an easy way to eat it is with some yoghurt and egg whites. And it goes well with some bacon. Make sure the bacon is well trimmed- obviously fat is to be avoided.

I wish...
For dinner, I made surf and turf. I used veal scallopini with a (marinade made of soy, grain mustard and ikan bilis) and prawns with minced garlic. Considering how much I used to make meat the focus of an evening meal, I sure do miss veggies. Bring on the Cruise Phase!

One thing that has already hit me hard is how much I miss sugar. Eating all that I am, I still feel like I'm missing something. After considering what it is that I crave, I 've worked out is is anything sugary. Perhaps this is why I'm hitting the jerky so hard; I think the terriyaki flavour has a lot of sugar in it. I'll need to find a less sugary jerky, or get rid of it. It's amazing how I'm missing the sugar after only two days without it... I hope that feeling subsides.

Pleasing taste, minimal monsterism.
One thing you're encouraged to do on the Dukan Diet is adopt a non-caloric sweetener. I have adopted Natvia, a "100% Natural" alternative to sugar. Most sweeteners use one of six different chemicals. Natvia utilises Stevia, a natural flower extract. It has a better initial taste than most artificial sweeteners I have tasted, almost like caramel. However, it still has the bitter/metallic aftertaste that I expect from artificial sweetners. Still, it made a pretty decent vanilla custard tonight- woo!

See you soon!
