Mass: 96.8 Kg
Mass-Loss to date: 6.2 Kg
Mass-Loss Remaining: 10.8 Kg
Phase: Cruise
My mass has been a bit up-and down over the last week or so, but it is trending downward (as you'd hope). I did get a spike (pit?) of loss last week, but I can't work out the cause of that.
I'm constantly finding new things to eat and try cooking, so it's been really great from that perspective. I'm finding the Dukan site a bit grating, but you can't have it all!
Last night I made curry. In fact, I spent all afternoon cooking; I boiled some eggs (mundane, but necessary), made chicken soup, roasted veggies and beef. This was all to box up for lunches during the week. It took some time, but I'm pleased I did make the effort.
My favourite creation was my curry! I used pork (it was on hand) to put this together. It had generous amounts of garlic, onion, curry powder and dry-fried spice seeds. I put this all together with some Greek-style yoghurt, a bit of soy (for colour and flavour) and some lime zest. I severed with minted yoghurt and a garlic-and-lime galette. I wish I had a photo!
On the downside, I have found out that Double D lollies, which has a zero sugar content, contain Maltitol. Maltitol is still metabolised like sugar, merely providing half of the energy. This means I can't just scoff them without repercussions. A bit annoying!
As I said earlier, I'm finding the Dukan website to be a bit lacking. The daily instructions coming back are starting to range from repetitive to patronising. The instructions are clearly just a range of comments selected from a bank that suit the data you have given it. They can be based on what you tell it each day (which gets repetitive), or based on your sign-up survey, which becomes a bit irrelevant. There are even stories about the Australian Aborigines and their 'sorcerors', cursing members of the tribe to wither away into nothing. Hardly appropriate.
The information is fairly poorly spread out on the Dukan site; the 'kitchen is split into recipe book, fridge and pantry. However, you will often find recipes in the other two areas, and 'fridge' doesn't mean perishable (as you'd expect). The site search function often lists forum entries before recipe book entries. I don't like trawling forums for information when I know an article exists elsewhere. On the other hand, the email queries are pretty promptly responded to, so I make use of that function quite frequently.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still quite enjoying the diet. A poor website doesn't indicate a poor product, but it can be hard to get confidence when things are badly laid out. The diet is still going well, mostly due to the fact that we still have the freedom to experiment in what we make.
